Malta Maintains Top Position in Europe for Digital Government Services
This week, the MFCC – Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre, was transformed into a vibrant Sports Village, as thousands of students from different schools took part in an energetic and interactive sports experience organised by the Public Service in collaboration with Sport Malta.
The event, which began on Wednesday, 20th May and continued until today, Friday, 22nd May, welcomed students from across Malta and gave them the opportunity to discover and try out a wide range of sporting activities in a fun, safe and accessible environment. On Saturday, the Sports Village will continue with a programme led mainly by Sport Malta, opening the experience to an even wider audience.
The main aim of the Sports Village was to introduce children and young people to different forms of sport; while encouraging them to remain active and explore activities they may not usually have the opportunity to experience during their daily school life. From handball to child-friendly OCR obstacles, the event offered a varied programme designed to appeal to different interests, abilities and levels of confidence.
Throughout the activity at MFCC, students were able to move from one activity to another, learn new skills, work in teams and enjoy the benefits of physical activity. The layout of the event created an environment where sport was not only about competition, but also about participation, inclusion, teamwork and personal development.
This initiative also showed the importance of collaboration between public entities in creating valuable experiences for young people. Through the partnership between the Public Service and Sport Malta, the Sports Village served as a platform to promote a healthier lifestyle, while highlighting the role of sport in education, wellbeing and community building.
By bringing together thousands of students under one roof, the Sports Village showed how sport can inspire curiosity, confidence and enthusiasm among young people. More importantly, it served as a reminder that when children are introduced to sports from a young age, we are helping to build healthier, more active and more united communities for the future.
