Nominations are now open for the Active Ageing Awards 2026, recognising individuals, organisations and initiatives that are making a positive contribution towards active ageing in Malta and Gozo.
Held annually as part of the activities marking the month dedicated to older persons in October, the awards celebrate commitment, dedication and excellence within the field of active ageing. They also aim to encourage a culture of respect, innovation and collaboration that enables older persons to remain active and engaged within their communities.
For 2026, nominations are being accepted across six categories: the Active Ageing Award; Innovation and Technology in Active Ageing Award; Cultural Award; Sports Active Ageing Award; Volunteering Award in Active Ageing; and Intergenerational Solidarity Award.
Each category highlights a different aspect of active ageing. These range from recognising older persons who contribute positively to economic, civic and social life, to initiatives that promote digital inclusion, cultural participation, sport, volunteering and stronger relationships between generations.
Nomination forms may be obtained from the ÄŠentru Servizz Anzjan at 3, Old Mint Street, Valletta, or from the centre at 39, Republic Street, Rabat, Gozo. They can also be downloaded from aacc.gov.mt or through the Active Ageing and Community Care Facebook page.
Completed nominations may be submitted by hand or post to Active Ageing and Community Care, addressed to Ms Maria Lara Zammit, c/o Active Ageing Unit, Level 1, FXB Building, Mdina Road, Qormi, or by email to [email protected].
