NEW AGREEMENT SIGNED TO ENHANCE GOVERNMENT’S GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM (GIS) CAPABILITIES

Date 09.02.2023
Time 5 minutes

On behalf of the Maltese Government, MITA signed a €2 million Enterprise Agreement with Esri to enhance the government’s geographic information system (GIS) capabilities.

The agreement spreads over three years, and will provide Esri software, professional services, and technical support to twenty-three entities including Ministries and Agencies across the Maltese Government.

Esri is considered the globali market leader in GIS software, location intelligence, and mapping. This helps customers unlock the full potential of data to improve operational and business results.

Principal Permanent Secretary and MITA Chairman Tony Sultana presided over the signing of the agreement, which will enable MITA to provide central coordination in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies, licenses and services, and facilitate flexible access to the latest Esri technology and services. This will enable further growth in the use of GIS capabilities to support current and future strategic geospatial initiatives.
