Malta Maintains Top Position in Europe for Digital Government Services

Date 26.06.2026
Time 5 minutes

Malta has once again ranked first in Europe for online government services, according to the latest eGovernment Benchmark published by the European Commission.

The country achieved an overall score of 99.4, including a perfect score of 100 for services provided to businesses and 99.1 for services offered to citizens.

The Head of the Public Service, Mr Tony Sultana, said the results reflect the Public Service’s ongoing commitment to digital transformation and service excellence.

“These results are further confirmation that our vision – Improving people’s lives every day – is being delivered in practice, every day and at all times,” said Mr Sultana.

The report assessed 96 digital services in each country and analysed more than 14,000 government websites across Europe. Malta exceeded the European average in services for both businesses and citizens and achieved maximum scores in user support, transparency and mobile friendliness.

Malta also recorded a perfect score in the Cross-Border ePayments category, further strengthening its position as a European leader in digital government services.
