Works Begin on New €75 Million Organic Processing Plant
The Public Administration constantly strives to safeguard its employees’ wellbeing with the provision of various measures. This is especially true when public employees are experiencing difficult moments in their lives due to serious medical circumstances or other humanitarian cases.
The policy regarding donated leave is the pinnacle of such measures as this assists officers by providing them with paid leave from a Central Fund to cover their absence from work and still receive their basic salary. Reasons for benefitting from this measure may be exceptionally diverse. Cases may range from employees suffering from severe personal illnesses impeding them from performing their duties, or cases of employees accompanying their children abroad to receive life-saving treatment.
The leave provided from the Central Fund consists of hours of vacation leave or time-off-in-lieu that are generously donated by other public employees in the wider Public Administration. This is therefore a collective contribution and endeavour by all those involved. It also emphasizes the importance of public employees voluntarily donating some of their hours to the Central Fund so that these may be used in these cases. It would not be possible to provide this assistance without the generosity of selfless donors willing to assist other colleagues in the Administration.
Public employees wishing to benefit from this leave or contribute towards the Central Fund may do so by filling in the pertinent e-form found in MyPortal here or by accessing the People & Standards website here. It is pertinent to point out that numerous employees required assistance and benefitted from this Policy throughout the years.
Employees wishing further information may access the Policy at Section 1.9 of the Manul on Work-Life Balance Measures here.
