Gozo’s Public Transport Service Now Fully Electric Following €11 Million Investment
Budget 2026 confirms Malta’s commitment to a justice system that is modern, efficient, and centred around its citizens. With a record €93 million investment in the Justice and Construction Reform sector, the country is seeing progress that goes beyond words. New infrastructure and higher staffing levels are reshaping the delivery of justice: a courtroom dedicated to juries has enabled an unprecedented 18 jury cases in one year, while the inauguration of new Magisterial facilities and the upcoming Commercial Court in Valletta underline long-term planning for improved efficiency and competitiveness. The sector now employs 600 people the highest in its history, supported by an increasing number of Court Attorneys, Judicial Assistants, and new members of the judiciary.
A defining development is the securing of a new Gozo Law Courts site through a Promise of Sale for the former Downtown Hotel in Victoria. After decades of discussion, this project finally lays the groundwork for a modern, accessible courthouse that meets current needs. This Gozo Court represents the Government’s determination to act diligently. Malta continues to choose a path where the rule of law is strengthened through investment, results, and leadership.
