Mr Jonathan Vassallo joined the Public Service in 2006 as a Programme Manager within the Planning and Priorities Coordination Division (PPCD). Initially, he was responsible for Financial Control on the Single Programming Document 2004-2006 as well as Cohesion Fund 2004-2006 projects. Subsequently, he was appointed Senior Manager within the same Division and then appointed Director General of the PPCD in 2011.
His role as Director of this Division was to ensure the efficient absorption and management of European assistance, both EU and bilateral, through effective coordination across Government departments, authorities, agencies and other stakeholders.
During his tenure as Director General he successfully oversaw the closure of the 2004-2007 SPD, the 2007-2013 Operational Programme and the Launch of the 2014-2020 Operational Progamme.
Mr Vassallo sits on a number of supervisory boards linked to the implementation of financial instruments supported by European funding.
He studied Public and Private Sector Management, specialising in Public Policy, at the University of Malta.
