Mr Godwin Mifsud joined the Malta Public Service in 2001 as an Economics Officer and served at the Economic Policy Department within the Ministry for Finance in different capacities throughout this period. In 2011 he was appointed Director (Structural Economic Research) and subsequently Director General (Economic Policy) in 2015. Under his tenure as Director General, Mr Mifsud saw to the consolidation of the Department in its policy advisory role with a focus on empirical evidence.
Over the years, Mr Mifsud represented Malta in European Union meetings and, in particular, was Malta’s Head of Delegation to the Economic Policy Committee, one of the preparatory bodies of the ECOFIN Council. He also served as Chairman of the Ageing Populations and Sustainability Working Group of the same committee. Mr Mifsud has led delegations in meetings with international institutions, including the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and credit rating agencies.
Mr Mifsud also sits on a number of Government boards and committees. He has studied in Malta and the United Kingdom and holds post-graduate degrees in Economics and in Public Policy.
